Khao Nam Khang National Park






The park is a historical area the battle field between Chinese communist and the soldiers. The communist digged 40m deep tunnel as shelter and to keep weapon. Dues to the weather is cold all year, the park is named "Khao Nam Khang". The park's attractions are Ton Tat Fah, Wang Luang Prom, Pru Ching Waterfalls, Mueang Look Nueng and Khao Nam Khang tunnel.


Geographical Features



The park is consisting of complex mountain ranges stretched southward till the border of Malaysia. The significant mountains are Kuan Sya, Kuan Khao Mai and the highest mountain: Khao Nam Kang which is 648 meters in height above average sea level. It’s an important area which originate many streams which are Na Twee canal, Prik canal, Tub Chang canal, Klong Sai Kaow canal, etc. Soil characteristic is friable soil, clay, clay mixed with sand, stone characteristic is mostly limestone and granite stone.


Weather Condition



Climate characteristic is under influence of northeast monsoon and southwest monsoon which causing abundant rain throughout the year. Rainy season starts from May to January, Summer starts from February to April.


Varieties of Plants and Wild Animals



Most of the area is Moist evergreen forest consisting of rich natural resources, mostly are economical valued trees ; Malacca teak, Hopea, Shorea farinose, Dipterocarpus alatus, Michelia Champaca, Shorea leprosula, Parashorea stella, Derris scandens, Mangifera indica, Mimusops elengi, etc. Ground plants found are Areca cathecu,genus Calamus or Daemonothops, bamboos, orchids, ferns, moss, etc.

Wild animals living in the park include wild pigs, bears, barking deers, serows, short-tailed monkeys, gibbons, panther, civets, tapirs, mouse deer, turtles and various species of birds include hornbills, great agus pheasants, red jungle fowls, tree partridges, green peafowls, white-rumped shamas, hill mynas, etc.

By Car

Khao Nam Kang National park can be accessed by starting from Na Ta Wee District, Song Kla Province, go along laterite road to Sa-ton village, then Na -plang village, and Lum village, and finally Tambon Plug Hon. The road is inconvenient because it’s steep road up and down the hills so four wheels drive car is most convenient.

Booking can be arranged through in this website or telephone booking at +66 2562 0760. Reservation can be made 60 days in advance. Payment at Krung Thai Bank Public Company Limited, needs to be done within 2 days after the reservation is being made.

Chinese Communist Terrerist Cave or Khao Nam Khang Cave Chinese Communist terrerist dug into the mountain to refuge from attack and called " 08 Cave", about 6km far from the Park Headquarter on Ban Saton-Sadao Road.

Beautiful Nature

Muang Luk Nung Muang Luk Nung, a large boulder which give the appearance of a mighty wall surrounding an ancient city. It’s located in approximately area of Nam Kang Summit.

Nam Tok Ton Mai Pak at Sadao district in SongKla province, is most beautiful waterfall and has strong water flows.

Nam Tok Wang Luang Prom is a small waterfall, with a lage stone in the center of waterfall,cousing 2 currents of water.

Ton Dard Fa Waterfall has a steep slope cliff about 80-90 degree celsious, when have your face lifted, it's like beautiful deck.

Ton Lad Waterfall is the beautiful waterfall, about 50 m. long, located behind the Park Headquarter at about 500 m.

San Kala Khiri National Park






San Kala Kiri National Park, located in Sabayoy District, Song Khla Province, covers Toa Thep Mountain National Forest Reserve, Khao Tan Forest Reserve, Kwan Chedi Forest, Praya Mai Forest, Kwan Kham Pang Forest, Kwan Rasor Forest Reserve, Kwan Nam Ron Forest, Kwan Sor Ror Forest, Bang Pla Forest and Toa Thep forest. The area is about 133,887 Rais or 214 squares kilometers, has many interesting plants and animals, and has naturally unique places such as waterfall, cave, The Pha Rain Forest, and peat swam forest which is about 300 Rai.


Geographical Features



This area generally consists of complicated mountains which is the border between Thailand and Malaysia, and the source of river of The Pha area.


Weather Condition



The weather in this area is two seasons which is rainy season and summer.


Varieties of Plants and Wild Animals



The area consists of rain forest because there are economically valuable plants such as Malabar ironwood, Red Meranti, Hard wood, Malacca Teak etc.

Animals found are small and medium size mammals, birds, reptiles and insect. The rare and valuable animals are seladang, mountain goat, red head elephant, roulroul, wreathed hornbill, Oriental pied hornbill, Malayan rhinoceros hornbill, great pied hornbill and great Indian hornbill for examples.

By Car

Traveler can use national road number 43 (Song Khla – Pattani) to Saba Yoy District, and from Saba Yoy District go along to Yaha District passing Baan Hoay for another 40 kilometers to San Kala Kiri National Park’s office.

This National park is still in establishing process, so there are no bungalows, tents, and a restaurant available. Please bring your own tents and food.

Historical

Ban Sea Hui This area is unique for its history. There was a big community, more than 100 years ogo, on hundreds of Rais, surrounded with mountains and rivers. The community in the middle of the forest had been destroyed by plague. The original people in this area are Thai people who, lived in Sai Buri District, Malaysia, were in search for new home and found three plains in the border between Thailand and Malaysia at border stone 39 – 40 called Ban Mara Nuea – Ban Mara Tai.

Kradook Cave One kilometer from Sea Hui Village, the cave has its inside a big hall which can stay 50 people. The bones of people of 100 years ago have been kept in this cave.

Bang Thepa Bang The Pha causes by two rivers, Lam Lord and Klong The Pha, meet each other bringing sedimentary sand and soil piling up to be large plain and beach.

Puang Cave It is a naturally beautiful limestone-cave which, in every year, has many beehives at the jutted stone over the cave. The scenery around the area is very fine.
